Thank you to Scott, Margeau, Katie, Lori, Smoore, and Amanda who all participated in Round 1!!

Ok, round two might be tough.

Name a song that holds some sort of great significance in your life.

Deep, I know. You don't have to say "why" or even submit lyrics... You can if you want too.

I hope I didn't scare anyone away with this one. Also, I've set up my comments settings to allow anyone to leave a comment. You don't have to be signed up at the blog thing. You may even submit a comment anonymously.

Mine is a song by Catch 22, an awesome ska band. It's called "As the Footsteps Die Out Forever." I think there are only a couple people from New Line that can figure out why this song means a lot to me...

she was diagnosed on a friday
the kids were almost home
the kids were on their way back home from school
lying faced down in the gutter
of unaccomplished dreams and broken memories of things to come
sorry ma'am i really am
i have to break the news
i have to make the phone call
to tell you that you're due you know where
and i'll tell you when
and i suggest that you start living the next three weeks the best that you can
every night for three long weeks
she'd roam the hallways half asleep
and as the footsteps fade away
in my mind i can swear i can swear i heard her say
don't wait for me
i got a lot to do
i got a lot to be
and in the end maybe i'll see you there

lost her strength on a saturday
spent the day in bed
yeah i'm fine it's just the flu she said
with a smile
but when they turned their backs
the tears would flow
she knew she only had a while
to live
to breathe
to be
to see
to bleed
to stand on her own two weakened feet
and so i prayed
every day
"don't take my mother away"
every night for three long weeks
she'd roam the hallways half asleep
and as the footsteps fade away
in my mind
i can swear i can swear i heard her say
don't wait for me
i got a lot to do
i got a lot to be
when in the end maybe i'll see you there

Ok songs that I can relate to or have a special meaning to me. I would have to say it is the Wall by Kansas, I remember using that song in one of my music therapy projects, and everything just hit home in that song and I could relate to the lyrics so well. GOt an A on that project too, that made it that more special

There is a song called So Long by Everlast that we use in the play I've written for my juvenile offender actors (it's based on their own stories, but written in iambic pentameter and they do this really cool slow-motion bit to this song that is SO incredibly powerful). Along those same lines, I feel the same way about Midlife Crisis by Faith No More, because they re-enact a murder in slow motion to that song...and they are all just a bit older than what is currently considered "middle age" for gang members (whom they are portraying...and at least one of them is a gang member).

God I love my juvies.

"Me and a Gun" by Tori Amos. It is my favorite Tori song by far. Help me get through a lot of tough stuff. None of which I'll mention here. When Scott asked for our favorite pop song to put in the program I thought about this and decided that it was too much of a downer... Though "Spark", the song I did choose, isn't that much brighter.
